Chitradurga
city is one of the 57 Karnataka cities in the
Nirmala Nagara - Municipal eGovernance project. On
Aug15th 2005 each of the 57 cities will get a
comprehensive website as well as the Public Grievance
& Redressal module. Other important modules to be
launched by June 2006 are Property
Tax, Financial Accounting GIS(Geographical
Information System) Mapping, Birth & Death
Certification, and Ward Works. Nirmala
Nagara project is a partnership between the
Urban
Development Dept,
eGovernments
Foundation & Survey of India. These computer
based systems coupled with Govt. process re-engineering
and GIS(Geographical information system) digital mapping
will provide transparency and accountability and
smoother delivery of services to citizens of Karnataka.

Chitradurga

is a city located in the
Indian state of Karnataka. Chitradurga gets
its name from Chitrakaldurga,an
umbrella-shaped lofty hill found here,Tradition dates
the chitradurga district to the period of the Ramayana
and Mahabharatha. The
whole district lies in the valley of the Vedavati
river,with the Tungabhadra flowing in the Northwest.
The Well Known
Tourist Place in Chitradurga is the Fort.
The fort of chitradurga with seven
circumbulations surrounds the seven hills of Chinmuladri
range.Actuallay
the Construction of this fort started during 10th
Century A.D and completed in 18th Century A.D during the
rule of palegars. According to an estimate the total
length of the fort is about 8 Kms. As per Chitradurga
District Gazetteer this fort has 19 Gateways, 28 Postern
Gates, 35 Secret Entrances, 4 invisible Entrances, 50
Warehouses, apart from other monuments.
City
Budget: The annual budget of the CMC for
the year 2006-07 is Rs. 1862.68 lakhs . Out of which
146.61 lakhs is proposed for capital expenses, Rs. 25
lakhs towards Repairs and Maintenance, and Rs. 32
lakhs towards the welfare of SC/ST
.
